What Else Do I Need?

Complete your security system with products from PolarisUSA

In addition to the security cameras, a complete surveillance system will also need a recording device, power and cable.

PolarisUSA offers a great selection of digital video recorders (DVRs). The DVR is the hub of your surveillance system, which processes and records all of the individual feeds from your cameras. Traditional CCTV systems will use a standalone DVR, which connects to your cameras via coaxial cable.

Newer IP-based network video cameras do not output a standard video signal. They are intelligent network devices that output a stream of computer data instead. In order to record this data, you will need a computer with special software running, called a "network video recorder" or NVR.

For a power solution, customers will either opt for individual power transformers for each camera, or a multi-camera central power station. For more than 4 cameras, a central power station is generally recommended.

There are many cable options for your system. For CCTV cameras, RG59 siamese cable is recommended. PolarisUSA offers pre-fabricated CCTV cables at varying lengths in addition to spools of bulk cable for creating your own.
